ABOUT SWANNY IRONMAN SERIES

The Swanny Ironman Series is made for the Swanny athletes who are ‘too busy’ to sign up for the Nutri-Grain® Ironman Series, but still want to compete in challenging and fun ironman events. While originally being based on the Nutri-Grain® Ironman Series series, it has been widely accepted that Swanny’s ironman series competition is superior. It involves Swanny’s keenest athletes competing in a specially made ironman courses, that involve a few twists. Each race lasts for approximately 45 minutes and requires both considerable fitness and surf skills.

WHAT IS AN IRONMAN?

The Ironman is a race designed to combine all of the surf lifesaving main sporting disciplines:

  • Ski
  • Board
  • Swim
  • Run

It is usually the most fun but the most challenging event at any surf lifesaving competition.

WHEN IS IT?

There are five events for the Swanny Ironman Series 2017/18. Points from competitors’ top four events add up to the overall Swanny Ironman Series winner. Each event is held on a Saturday morning with the race starting at 9.00 am. Races will alternate who starts first between males and females. As well as competing you will be expected to help set up, provide water safety for the other competitors and then pack up.

WHO DOES IT?

Any Swanny Member who is registered, financial, proficient and up to date with patrol hours can do it! However competitors need to consider their fitness before showing interest. It is recommended you attend training sessions and points races regularly and feel comfortable in the surf before considering going in this event.
